The White Sox will be without an important piece to their bullpen for a while after left-hander Garrett Crochet landed on the 10-day injured list with an upper back strain.
The Sox also announced before their doubleheader with the Tigers on Thursday that center fielder Luis Robert has been reinstated from the injured list. Robert wasn’t feeling well Monday and was sidelined for precautionary reasons. After passing tests for the coronavirus, he is ready to go and will play in the second game Thursday, manager Tony La Russsa said.
“I feel much better, no headache or fever, the only thing is my body feels a little lethargic from being in bed but I will be good to go today,” Robert said through translator Billy Russo.

Garrett Crochet will be on the ‘Chris Sale’ plan, along with the new ones utilized for Lucas Giolito and Michael Kopech in the recent past.
Why would Crochet’s limited innings in college have so much bearing on his workload for next season? He’s already being pampered this season, similar to Kopech who has missed virtually all of 2019 and 2020 due to TJ surgery and his opt-out last year. Name a pitcher, amateur or professional, who wasn’t or will not be impacted at some point this season because of circumstances related to the pandemic?
The White Sox rotation has already been impacted in just the first month of 2021 due to concerns related to the ongoing effects of the pandemic and the management of the staff. This has affected not only young pitchers like Crochet, Kopech and Dylan Cease but also veteran SP’s Lance Lynn, Dallas Keuchel, Carlos Rodon and Giolito. Every SP has been given extra rest between starts. The bullpen has also been monitored very closely with thre
