Many Nashville companies won t require COVID-19 vaccine for workers

Nashville Tennessean Many Nashville employers are keeping their heads low as Tennessee legislators brace for clashes over COVID-19 vaccine mandates at workplaces. A federal rule recently cleared the way for mandates, provided they aren t barred by the state and they include exemptions for religious reasons and disabilities. Employers are required to make reasonable accommodations for workers who take an exemption from the vaccine unless those accommodations become unduly burdensome. But, as pharmaceutical companies race to widely distribute the shots, a bill working its way through the Tennessee legislature aims to strengthen exemption allowances to protect employees who don t want the vaccine in public and private businesses.
