Low-interest loans available for Nov 12 storm damage

North Carolina businesses and residents in Alexander County and the adjacent counties of Wilkes, Caldwell, Iredell and Catawba affected by rain and flooding from Tropical Storm Eta on Nov. 12 can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza announced on Dec. 8 that he made the loans available in response to a Dec. 2 letter from Gov. Roy Cooper requesting the disaster declaration. The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Feb. 2, 2021. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Sept. 7, 2021. “Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property,” said Michael Lampton, acting center director of SBA’s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta.
