Members of the public visited Windsor Castle to place flowers at the gates and pay tribute ahead of the Duke of Edinburgh s funeral.
There were no large crowds seen in Windsor in the morning, but by midday, hundreds of people had gathered to pay their respects and watch the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery along the Long Walk.
Dozens of riders, wearing black, gold and red uniforms and carrying three guns, rode up to Cambridge Gate where tributes to Prince Philip have been laid.

The funeral for the Duke of Edinburgh is taking place today.
The country has been in national mourning since the death of the Duke, aged 99, on April 9. Operation Forth Bridge, which outlines the strict procedures following the Duke s death, including how it will be announced and what the funeral plans will be, has also been underway.
The Duke s funeral will take place at 3pm in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, and it will begin with a National Minute’s Silence at 3pm.
The nation is saying farewell to the Duke of Edinburgh during a televised funeral at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle following his death last week at the age of 99.
The Queen will lead a small group of close family and friends at the service for her husband of 73 years.
Covid regulations have reduced the scope of the service with public elements cancelled, mourners reduced from around 800 to just 30 and all guests wearing face masks and sitting apart.
The ceremonial elements of the service will include a procession which steps off at 2.45pm, followed by the arrival of a Land Rover carrying the coffin and a national minute’s silence.
