Recent heavy rains have forced wildlife from underground dwellings where theyâre more accessible to predators such as snakes and bobcats, so watch wherever you step when outdoors, including your own yard.
Thatâs advice from L.T. Pratt, spokesman for Green Valley Fire District, which responds to injury calls, and Kevin McNichols, new volunteer coordinator for Green Valley Fire Corps, which responds to pest-related calls.
Snake-removal requests are up slightly from normal summer calls, most likely to recent storms.

Pima County has closed the door on leasing parking space next to the former Canoa Hills Golf Course clubhouse purchased by GVR last year.
That leaves GVR CEO Scott Somers looking for other ways to recover tens of thousands of dollars lost when the board decided not to buy the parking lot at a bargain-basement price last fall when it bought the clubhouse.
Somers made the lease pitch in a series of emails this spring as a way for Pima County to provide parking for those using the county-owned Canoa Trails Park.
CHP seeks hit-and-run driver after Reno man s body found on Lenwood Road in Barstow
Victorville Daily Press
Authorities are looking for the driver of a black Infiniti QX60, or similar vehicle, that sustained damaged after hitting and killing a 36-year-old Reno man last month in Barstow.
The California Highway Patrol said the unidentified driver struck a pedestrian while driving north on Lenwood Road, north of Camino Del Sol, between midnight and 6 a.m. April 21. Officials do no know how fast the vehicle was traveling when the collision occurred.
The pedestrian later identified as Marvin Lane Beamon had been walking within the northbound lane of Lenwood Road when he was hit, CHP officials said. The right front of the vehicle struck Beamon, pushing his body to the right shoulder of Lenwood Road.
