Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa on Friday reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 25th time, breaking his own record for the most summits of the highest mountain in the world.
Sherpa was part of a 12-member team fixing the ropes to the summit, the first of hundreds of climbers expected to reach the top of Everest in coming weeks.

Kathmandu [Nepal], May 7 (ANI): Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa on Friday reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 25th time, breaking his own record for the most summits of the highest mountain in the world.
According to Kathmandu-based Seven Summit Treks, Kami Rita reached the summit of Mount Everest on Friday evening, leading a team to build the way with ropes, Khabarhub reported.
With an elevation of 8,848.86 meters, Mount Everest is Earth s highest mountain above sea level.
As many as 12 Sherpas, including six from Solukhumbu and six from Sankhuwasabha, including Kami Rita, 51, reached Everest peak for the 25th time and broke his own record.

Kathmandu, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Nepalese mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa on Friday has fulfilled his goal of climbing Mount Everest 25 times, to set a new world record, the Kathmandu Tribune newspaper reported.
Kami Rita is a Sherpa guide who since May 2018 has been holding the lead for most ascents of the world s highest peak, 8,848 meters above sea level.
Earlier, in 2017 Kami Rita became the third person to ascend the well-known Roof of the Planet 21 times, sharing that achievement with Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi Sherpa, both now retired from climbing.
