Outdoor summer yoga classes return to Commons Park

ANGOLA — Angola Parks and Recreation is bringing back free yoga classes for the summer.  Instructors Lara Covey, Traci Rocho and Jessica Boyd will lead Yoga Basics classes every Saturday throughout the summer starting May 8.  Classes will run 9-10 a.m. in Commons Park.  Everyone is welcome to join these free classes regardless of experience.  The first class on May 8 will take place at the Roman Beer stage in Commons Park off of John Street. For more information or to sign up for classes, visit the Angola Parks and Recreation Facebook page or call 665-1588.  The return of yoga classes is part of returning programming to the Angola Parks department after many organized activities had to be canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Signup for the popular youth Summer Rec program was held on Monday.

Five victims, including two toddlers, were attacked in Moraga and Lafayette. The search for the animal was unprecedented, with urban wildlife trackers working around the clock, and agencies at the local, state and federal levels collaborating to set and monitor traps, and collect DNA swabs from the victims, all to find a single animal the size of a coffee table. Adopt a Tree this weekend

ANGOLA — Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. people can drive through the parking lot at the Selman Timber Frame at Commons Park to adopt a free tree for the 2021 Adopt-a-Tree Festival. There will also be a take-home suet feeder craft children can receive during the event. You do not have to be an Angola city resident to pick up a tree or a suet feeder craft. Tree saplings available include cedar, chinkapin, oak or tulip. The festival is being hosted by the Angola Tree Board and the Adopt-a-Tree Committee. For more information call 624-5588.

2 Passengers Sue United Airlines Over Horror of Mid-Air Engine Blast

Two passengers aboard a United Airlines plane that had to make an emergency landing after one of its engines blew apart in February are suing the airline. One of their lawyers described the incident as terror that lasts a lifetime,  Fox News reported. In separate lawsuits filed in Chicago last Friday, Joseph McGinley of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jonathan Strawn of Sioux City, Iowa, said they had suffered personal, emotional, and financial injuries. United Airlines is based in Chicago. The two passengers were on the flight heading to Honolulu from Denver, Colorado when the Boeing 777 s engine blew apart on Feb. 20.
