Eau Claire seeks dismissal of officer-involved shooting lawsuit

Eau Claire is seeking the dismissal of a civil lawsuit filed by a man who was unarmed when a police officer shot him in 2015.
Written by attorneys hired by the city s insurer,
Wisconsin Municipal Mutual Insurance, the motion for summary judgement was filed Monday with the
U.S. District Court of Western Wisconsin.
The attorneys wrote there are insufficient facts to prove
Tyler Holte s rights were violated or that Officer
Hunter Braatz s conduct was against the law.
The motion states that police officers were advised to use caution when approaching Holte for an arrest warrant on

County Council agreed to the first of three approvals for tax breaks for a project dubbed Project Slapshot.
This is the sixth major economic project this year in the county. The name of the company and location will be revealed upon the third and final reading of the fee in lieu of tax agreement.
The company will receive a reduced property tax rate of 6% over 30 years. The standard rate is 10.5%.

RALEIGH - N.C. Rep. Jason Saine, R-Lincoln, has introduced a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent in the Tar Heel State.
House Bill 307 asks Congress to allow North Carolina to use daylight time year-round. The state now switches its standard time twice each year. People set clocks forward by one hour to Eastern Daylight Time each spring, then turn clocks back by one hour to Eastern Standard Time in the fall.
