“Probably the silliest thing I’ve ever built. A machine learning model that detects insults. Fruits of the lockdown,” Joojo tweeted, accompanied by a video demonstration. As of the time of filing this report, the said tweet has garnered 656 retweets, 1,400 likes and has over 80 replies. That is how far this learning model has travelled. Speaking to Pulse.com.gh in an exclusive interview, Joojo who is currently studying in Malaysia, said the idea came to him due to the boredom of staying indoors as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown in the Asian country.
“I work as a software engineer in Malaysia and due to COVID-19, we have a very strict lockdown,” he said.
The conversation has generated a heated debate on the social media platform as some Ghanaian Twitter users argue with each other over the power and influence of the Asantehene and the Ghanaian President.
One tweet that flamed the argument was a post from a Twitter user with the handle asanteniiba, who wrote:
I don t care who your president is but I respect and honor Otumfour Osei Tutu II the
Asantehene my King more than anyone. I will fight n die for my king not de president Long live King Solomon .
The tweet attracted opposing tweets from tweeps who argue that Asantehene s power does not go beyond the Ashanti Region and the Asante Kingdom, therefore, the Ghanaian President wields more influence than the traditional ruler.
A Twitter user identified as
@ bernvrd who claimed to be Andrew’s friend posted his one-week celebration poster on the social media platform with the caption:
“My guy has been stressing for a job for the past 3 years after Uni, only to get a job and die the next day.”
“Heard he was supposed to start immigration training yesterday and he complained about headache, that’s all,” he added. The sad news has got many Ghanaian Twitter users, some of whom appear to know the deceased reacting. Most of them have been expressing shock at the demise of the young man while others pray for a peaceful rest for him.
