Senate Leader of Government Business Clarence Rambharat says a final decision on the Secondary Entrance Assessment examination will be made at the end of this week.
He made the statement on behalf of Education Minister Nyan Gadsby-Dolly in response to an urgent question by Opposition Senator Wade Mark in the Senate on Tuesday.
“The government recognises that the exam is important, and all possible preparations are being made by the Education Ministry, together with the Health Ministry and all the other ministries involved, in the safe implementation of the SEA.

The Education Ministry has suspended moderation of School-Based Assessments for on-site moderated subjects for the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) examination until May 23.
In a release on Monday, the ministry said, “The suspension is in keeping with the ministry s mandate to support protocols implemented by the Ministry of Health which seeks to limit face-to-face activities during the period of May 10-23.”
It said the moderation exercise will resume on May 24 and schools will be advised of rescheduled dates for the moderation exercise for respective subjects.

The Ministry of Education on Wednesday confirmed June 10 as the date for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination.
In a release, the ministry said the decision was made after consultations with education stakeholders, including the TT Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA), principals, teachers, parents and students.
The ministry said on Monday some stakeholders suggested three weeks of face-to-face classes before the exam may have benefitted students.

The Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam will go ahead despite the almost daily rise in new covid19 infections.
This was confirmed in a media release on Wednesday in which the Ministry of Education said the exam will be held on Thursday June 10.
With the recent sharp rise in new infections, the ministry recently held consultations with stakeholders including the TT Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA), principals, teachers, parents and even some students to discuss the possible cancellation of the exam.
