Man kills self, two others die in accidents

A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house located in the New Karachi neighbourhood, police officials said on Sunday.
Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the house and took the deceased to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for completing the medico-legal formalities. He was identified as 50-year-old Akram, son of Amrao.
Citing the initial investigation, police said the man had committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan over family and financial problems, adding that further investigation was under way.
Separately, a woman identified as 54-year-old Musarrat, wife of Saeed, died after falling down the stairs of her house located in Lyariâs Agra Taj Colony. She was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
Two killed, two injured in road accidents

Two people were killed while two others were injured in separate road accidents on Wednesday. A man died and another was injured after a speedy vehicle hit their motorcycle in Steel Town. The casualties, who are yet to be identified, were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
In a similar incident, a passerby, who are yet to be identified, died after being hit by a speedy vehicle near Shershah Chowk within the SITE B Section police station remits. The body was moved to a morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Man returning from bank robbed, injured

A man was wounded for resisting to a mugging bid in DHA’s Phase VIII, Khayaban-e-Qasim, on Tuesday. The injured was taken to the JPMC where he was identified as 25-year-old Shakeel, son of Khadim Hussain. He was returning after withdrawing Rs84,000 from a bank in Gizri when two men on a motorcycle shot him after snatching the cash.

A man allegedly shot dead his three daughters in New Mohalla Sharif Khel near Iskanderabad, Mianwali. Reportedly, four-year-old Arfa, two-year-old Alisha and one-year-old Misbah were among the murdered.
According to the police report, the suspected identified as Nadir Khan quarreled with his wife. He wanted to shoot his wife but the family rescued her from the deranged suspect.
Meanwhile, the three girls were sleeping in a bed in the room. The suspect Nadir, in a fit of rage, started firing at the sleeping girls.

In November 2019, the American political analyst Patrick Liddiard wrote in an essay on the Wilson Centre website that, recently, the world has seen an increase in social movements by groups who feel alienated by mainstream political parties.
