Jermaine Dewone Bolden, 36, who had the street name “Sockhead,” was sentenced Monday by District Judge Ramona Emanuel to four decades in prison for an armed robbery conviction and a 10-year concurrent term for aggravated battery.
Bolden was convicted of armed robbery and aggravated battery, both with a firearm, on Feb. 27, 2020, in Caddo District Court.
Jury deliberation took less than 30 minutes.
Bolden s victim was shot and robbed on April 8, 2018, after he was lured to a friend s home where Bolden was a guest.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Sam Crichton and Ed Blewer. Bolden was defended by Kurt Goins.
Shreveport Man Convicted of Attempted Murders
A Shreveport man is likely headed to many years behind bars after he was convicted of trying to kill two men in December of 2017. 43-year-old Carlos Martel Lynn Smith has been found guilty on two counts of attempted murder.
The jury verdict was unanimous in Caddo District Court. Judge John Mosely Jr. presided over the trial. Smith represented himself at the trial.
He was accused of shooting two male acquaintances on Bethany Street during the December 6, 2017 incident. One of the men was shot in the abdomen and hand while the other was shot in the head. Both survived.
SHREVEPORT, La. The city of Shreveport owes water and sewer customers more than $9.6 million, according to a ruling Wednesday in Caddo District Court.Â
The ruling by District Judge Michael Pitman is second monetary judgment assessed to the city in connection with a water billing class action lawsuit. Last month, the city issued refunds to customers totaling almost $6 million that represented one part of the lawsuit that disclosed the city s practice of rounding up water usage when determining the amount of monthly bills during the winter months.Â
This recent judgment deals with too many days of overcharges.Â
Over 100,000 families who are current and former water and sewer customers will benefit from the ruling, the Harper Law Firm said Thursday in a news release.
