Keep Tahoe Bears Wild - Do not interfere with Lake Tahoe s bear cubs and yearlings

All cubs are born in January or February and known as the cub of the year if from the current year while the cubs born last season are yearlings. Memorial Day is known as the official opening day of summer and with the COVID-19 restrictions being loosened and the forecast being a nice one, many campgrounds are opening and visitor numbers are increasing in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Changes ahead at some heavily used Lake Tahoe Forest Service areas

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The majority of National Forest recreation sites around the Tahoe Basin are now open and the 2021 season promises to be a busy one for Tahoe Recreation, the new concessionaire for many of the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit’s (LTBMU) popular campgrounds and day-use sites.
