Lenz Ong: Just a week after I praised him for keeping it tidy at the back, some real nervy moments at the back with his distribution today. Some questionable decisions that pinned his defenders back and generated some sketchy turnovers. Also tended to overhit his short passes. Could consider himself a bit lucky to come away with a second consecutive clean sheet, but hopefully it’s just an off day.

TORONTO, Canada Toronto FC visit the New York Red Bulls on Saturday hoping to bounce back after their disappointing result midweek, as the club crashed out of the Concacaf Champions League. And in case the players needed some added motivation ahead of this weekend’s matchup, they only need to look to their head coach Chris Armas.
Head Coach Chris Armas will have had this day circled in his calendar when the MLS regular season schedule was released. Since parting ways with the Red Bulls in 2020, this will be Armas first visit back to Red Bull Arena, and while picking up his first regular season for his new club will have always been the goal, doing so against his former employer will help make it all the more sweeter.
But TFC got nothing out of it, with New York (2-2-0) taking the lead in the 32nd minute on a Frankie Ayama goal after teenager Caden Clark picked Mark Delgado s pocket. The 17-year-old Clark doubled the lead in the 69th minute when the Red Bulls carved open the TFC defence without much opposition.
Toronto coach Chris Armas is missing some key pieces, meaning the ones he has have to perform. That s not happening, with mistakes costing the team. In a league where the margins are thin, we have to be at our best. We have to carry our weight.
