There s an 80 percent chance that Lake Okeechobee discharges into the St. Lucie River will come to an end. That s what Congressman Brian Mast said to a group of activists who like him are trying to stop the harmful releases.
Mast says the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will announce in July its new schedule in regards to the management of the big lake.
He told the Rivers Coalition that the feds are considering five plans, including two that would involve discharge water to areas other than the St. Lucie.
The Representative wants people to contact the Army Corps and elected officials to get behind plans that would end the local discharges.
