Lorena González joins race for Seattle mayor Feb 03, 2021
Seattle City Council President Lorena González said she will run for mayor Wednesday morning.
González, who travels in the left lanes of Seattle politics, promises bold, transformative actionâ on issues including homelessness and affordable housing. I believe it s time to scale up. I believe we need everyone, especially big business to do their part, she said.
González joins several other candidates for Seattle mayor, including Colleen Echohawk of the non-profit Chief Seattle Club, and Lance Randall with the non-profit SEED.

TALBOTTON, Ga. (WTVM) - The city of Talbotton held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for its new healthcare facility.
The new facility will serve not only as a doctorâs office, but will also include a dental office and a pharmacy. Itâs currently the only healthcare facility in town.
The new facility is especially important during a time where healthcare is needed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With around 6,000 residents in the community, they can now receive treatment without having to drive miles away.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A Georgia congressman was present when the chaos unfolded at the United States Capitol Wednesday and called the experience “frightening”.
Anti-American, seditious, and unpatriotic are the three words Congressman Sanford Bishop, who represents Columbus, said describe what happened at the Capitol.
“It was a pretty disruptive situation and it was frightening for a lot of people,” Bishop said.
Bishop was preparing to head to the house floor when the Capitol was put into a shelter in place order. Protestors scaled the walls, entered offices, and left the federal building a mess.

ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains, will now be a Historic Park.
U.S. Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler helped secure unanimous Senate passage of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park Redesignation Act.
The bill was originally introduced in the Senate and House by Senator Perdue and Congressman Sanford Bishop, and is sponsored by the Georgia congressional delegation.
Having now passed both the Senate and House, the bill heads to President Trump for his signature.
“No matter where life has taken me, from the Governor’s mansion to the White House, Plains has always been my home,” said President Carter. “Rosalynn joins me in thanking Senator Perdue, Congressman Bishop, and the Georgia delegation for helping preserve my family’s legacy.”
