The past few months have been rough on hospitals across Missouri.
The coronavirus has stretched staffing resources, filled up ICUs and caused dozens of deaths.
And despite a reprieve last week in COVID-19 admissions, CoxHealth and Mercy Springfield are bracing for another potential surge as cases rise and colder weather looms.
That could have a big impact on providers far outside population centers like Springfield, Kansas City or St. Louis.
