OâBrien slams Cup demands for internationals Trainer Aidan O’Brien has all but ruled out bringing horses to Australia this year. Picture: Getty Comments
Champion trainer Aidan OâBrien says it is âprobably impossibleâ for him to bring horses to Australia this year due to the screening demands on Melbourne Cup entrants.
The Irishman’s view and potential ethical dilemma revolves around the requirement for fit horses to undergo a nuclear scintigraphy (bone scanning).
“I’m not sure whether we get to go to Australia with many horses at all this year because there’s a new scan that very few horses will pass,” O’Brien said.
