If there were one buzzword for restaurants over the past decade, it would be “sustainability.” Public figures like Arthur Potts Dawson, advocate chef for the World Food Programme and executive chef at OmVed Gardens, as well as Sam Kass, former White House chef, are two of many who have brought sustainability to the forefront in the culinary industry. If you re interested in reducing food waste in your own kitchen, it doesn t stop with cooking; beverages are a great way to put those stems and peels to use.

It’s no surprise that there are so many bars in Las Vegas that many of them cater to very specific tastes places that match people’s moods and party vibes. Such is the case with The Tangier, the new whiskey bar at Sahara Las Vegas.
“The goal . is if someone lands here in Vegas and says, ‘Hey let’s go find a good whiskey bar?’ that we would pop up on Google,” says Nate Hedlund, director of beverage for Sahara Las Vegas. “This is where you come if you want whiskey The Tangier we’re all brown spirits.”

As one of the property’s most popular flair bartenders while we were conducting the interview and photo shoot, more than one guest stopped by to say they came to Las Vegas specifically to see Manoukian’s skills he brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, has won seven championships and made countless Top 5 and Top 10 lists, and has an honest-to-goodness amazing energy that’s simply contagious. He’s also traveled the world, competing in places like Peru, London, Russia, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Directions
Step 1: Run a fresh-cut lemon wedge around the edge of a cocktail class, then dip the rim of the glass in sugar. Make sure all edges of the glass are well coated.
Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 1/2 ounces vodka, 3/4 ounce lemon juice and 1/2 ounce triple sec with a scoop of ice. Shake until cold.
Step 3: Strain into prepared glass, then garnish with lemon round.
