DAVIS, Calif., March 5, 2021.Dr. Anita Oberholster, Associate Specialist in Cooperative Extension in Enology for Agricultural Natural Resources (ANR), based at University of California, Davis, has been confirmed by the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) as the recipient of the 2021 ASEV Extension Distinction Award. Dr. Oberholster will present “The Challenges of Modern Extension Programs” at the 72nd ASEV National Conference, held virtually on June 21-24, 2021.
Dr. Oberholster completed her doctorate in wine sciences at the University of Adelaide, Australia, in 2008 and worked at the Department of Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University until 2011, when she became a Cooperative Extension Specialist in the Department of Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis. In her current position, she focuses on continued education for the grape and wine industry while her research program concentrates on current issues in the grape and wine

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. For Charles Hardcastle and his wife, Carolyn Hardcastle, caring for his community is second nature. A former Mayor of Bowling Green and current President of Consolidated Paper Group, Charles Hardcastle has been a prominent member of the community for many years.
Now, his dedication to the region will be permanently memorialized, as the Kentucky Building will be renamed the Charles Hardcastle Kentucky Building in honor of a $1.5 million gift made by the namesake and his wife. The naming was approved by the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents on Friday morning (March 5).
“WKU is incredibly grateful for the philanthropic support Charles and Carolyn provide, demonstrating their strong connection to and belief in our institution,” said WKU President Timothy C. Caboni. “Their personal contribution will touch the lives of many Hilltoppers for years to come.”

Dining Alliance, the nation s largest independent restaurant group purchasing organization, is forming an enhanced partnership with Southeastern Paper Group in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to offer cash-back rebates on 165,000 contracted items for the paper company s customers, according to a news release.
Southeastern Paper Group provides food service supplies, facility maintenance solutions and industrial packaging products across seven states throughout the southeastern United States. These partnerships allow Dining Alliance to extend our reach and fulfill our mission of helping independent restaurants succeed, Dining Alliance President Tina Davie Donahue, said in the release. Paper and disposables are playing an increasingly important role as restaurants earn more of their revenue through off-premise dining. We view this as a crucial area to offer savings to our members.
