KCMO passes milestone with 40% receiving at least 1 vaccine dose © Jim Salter Vaccine in Missouri The Kansas City metro area continues to reopen as more and more of the population gets the COVID-19 vaccine. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Wednesday the state has 314,523 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 5,080 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall, the state said 42.3% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose. Kansas only updates is case totals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Thursday there have been 512,323 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 9,129 deaths. Overall, the state said 41.8% of the population has received at least one dose and 34.8% have completed vaccination.

The Symphony announced its slate of shows for the season Wednesday. It includes a classical series, pop series, family series and its popular special presentations of film scores, including Home Alone: Film + Live Orchestra at Christmastime and Harry Potter and Star Wars films early next year.
