Cheiron Petroleum Corporation (Cheiron), Egypts largest independent Exploration and Production company, is pleased to announce that it has agreed to purchase 50% of Shells upstream oil and gas interests in the Western Desert. The remaining 50% of the interests will be purchased by Cheirons strategic partner, Cairn Energy plc, a new entrant into the Egyptian upstream sector.
Cheiron will operate the production and development concessions in the asset portfolio, using the experience gained over three decades of improving safety, production, reserves and cost management performance in its Egyptian fields. GeoPark, a leading independent Latin American oil and gas explorer, operator and consolidator with operations and growth platforms in Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil and Argentina, has announced its independent oil and gas reserves assessment, certified by DeGolyer and MacNaughton (D&M), under PRMS methodology, as of December 31, 2020.
All reserves included in this release refer to GeoPark working interest reserves before royalties paid in kind, except when specified. All figures are expressed in US Dollars.
