EDITORIAL: Poor kids are just as bright as rich kids

Biden’s disconcerting obsession with race is a matter of public record. Samples: • Barack Obama is “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” • “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.” • “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” • “Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.” • “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black.”

EDITORIAL: To recruit young talent, don t move Space Command from Colorado Springs

Three primary factors, regardless of anything else, should make relocation of the Colorado Springs-based Space Command an unthinkable prospect: 1. Billions of dollars have been invested in assets used by Space Command in and around Peterson Air Force Base. Abandoning them for a political favor would cost taxpayers a substantial and needless expense at a time when the national debt is rising beyond our economy’s ability to service it. If President-elect Joe Biden cuts military spending after taking office, the prospect of a move becomes even more financially absurd. That’s not to mention the money we must continue hemorrhaging trying to recover from the pandemic. We cannot disrupt the military at a time like this.

EDITORIAL: Other Space Command finalists pose big risks

Space Command thrives in Colorado Springs. It operates in a perfect ecosystem that combines a qualified workforce, proximity to supporting entities, public safety, transportation and community support. A better environment is not possible, no matter how incessantly politicians try to take it from Colorado. To move the command, the Pentagon would abandon billions of dollars in existing assets. It would disrupt this critical operation at a time when we have no time to waste in keeping up with foreign adversaries racing to dominate us militarily in space. If federal officials act irresponsibly and move the command, we worry about our friends and neighbors who devote their lives to this critical component of national security. While all finalist locations are part of fine metropolitan areas, none is as stable for Space Command politically, geographically, culturally, and tactically as Colorado Springs. Consider each of the other finalists:
