A pub landlord has been ordered not to use his £50,000 chalet with a bar, pizza oven and TV to house outdoor diners because it breaks Covid rules.
Jason Kalen, who runs The Marlborough in Wiltshire, claimed the structure was safe because it had a one-inch gap in the ceiling for ventilation.
However, council officials pointed out that it broke established rules requiring at least 50% of the walls to be open to the outside.
Therefore, he has been told he cannot use the chalet until punters are allowed to host people inside again on May 17, although he still has other space in his garden to accommodate drinkers from next week.

Brew City Grill & Brew House on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester will reopen one week from Friday, on March 19, following a temporary closure which began in January, spurred by difficulties in running the restaurant under heightened coronavirus restrictions.
“Thank you for all of your DMs, emails, and calls! We have been floored with the community feedback. As of now, we are pleased to announce that we are back, March 19th @ 4pm!” the company wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. “See you then!”
Brew City management announced its temporary closure on Jan. 19. At the time, restaurants were limited to 25% of their indoor seating, not including staff.
