Shoals law enforcement event honors fallen officers

In recognition of National Police Week, you’re invited to join law enforcement officials in the Shoals area as they honor fallen police officers.
The 4th Annual Blue Light Vigil will take place this Saturday, May 15.
It’s at 7 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Colbert County.
The event is open to the public and includes a powerful blue light presentation after sunset during a roll call for the fallen.

When Taylor Sandoval returned to Paris in 2016 after working in an equine therapy center in San Diego, California, her mom and stepdad had land and at least one horse appropriate for therapeutic riding.
She now has six therapeutic horses, and Tailored Rides Equine Assisted Therapy, a nonprofit corporation, as an extension of Weybap Farm, located north of Reno and the Cowboy Church in the Camp on CR 42520. Situated on 8 acres with a 60-foot round pen and large lighted sand arena, the property has various gardens, a sensory trail for riding and walking, and a large flock of chickens and guineas.
Western Heritage Classic 2021 Returns to Abilene This Weekend
The Western Heritage Classic is back and it s May 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th, 2021. All the action that one is accustomed to is back in town and in the new Taylor County Expo Center. This year the rodeo and dance will take place as if nothing ever happened.
Taylor County Expo Director, Rochelle Johnson says come one, come all and enjoy all the new Expo center has to offer. Better parking and an arena that was made to rodeo in. Take in all the extras like the bit and spur show, ranch horse competition, kids stick horse competition, ranch horse auction, horse clinics, cowboy camp cook-off, cowboy music, fiddle contest, Saturday night dance featuring Jake Hooker and the Outsiders.
Carlee Miller of Bowman was one of the top riders Sunday as the three-day Mon-Dak Barrel Daze events came to a close.
Late in Sundayâs competition, Miller was sitting in third place with a time of 15.051 seconds on the leaderboard. Miller, who was riding DHR Perks Only Okie, was behind leader Kara Langerud (14.955 seconds) and Kate Hatter (15.000 seconds).
The event was the Open BBR 5D format competition.
The three-day overall event started Friday with time Onlys, then followed with Time Onlys Saturday morning, followed by the $2000 added Open 5D Barrel Races.
The competition continued Sunday after the Cowboy Church, with also Church Race side pot available to competitors.
