Hull council tax hike confirmed as bills will rise by 4.9 per cent

Council tax bills in Hull are set to increase by 4.9 per cent from April.
The inflation-busting rise proposed by the ruling Labour group on Hull City Council was approved at today s annual budget-setting meeting of the authority.
Opposition councillors voted against after their alternative budget proposals featuring lower increases were defeated.
It means most households will pay between £58.58 and £175.74 extra per year towards council, police and fire services.

People in the lowest-value Band A properties will pay £1,219.13 while households in high-value Band H properties face a bill of £3,657.38.
