Each county in the country is to receive at least one new fire engine by 2025.
€61m is to be invested in the fire service over the next five years.
The investment will see six new fire stations built next year, including one in
Dunleer at a cost of €1.6m as well as a €1m refurbishment and upgrade of
Nobber Fire Station.
The fire station in
Oldcastle is also scheduled for an upgrade during the next two years with €400,000 being announced for the project today.
All of the local projects had originally been included in the 20167-2020 programme.
