mgreier@salemnews.net SALEM A council committee is recommending parking be allowed in an existing, original residential driveway in a front yard, with or without an existing garage, citywide. The Rules & Ordinances Committee voted Wednesday to add the clause as an exception to 361.16, the city ordinance which prohibits front yard parking. Now the issue will be presented to city council for a decision. Councilwoman Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey, who chairs the committee, said the issue came up after someone complained about a building project on Southeast Boulevard. When the zoning officer checked the residence, he found that the homeowner was enclosing the garage to create additional living space in the house and never got a permit.
