Talk About Clyde: Aaron Wilson receives community service honor Jeanette Ricker Aaron Wilson received the Clyde Business and Professional Association 2020 Community Service Award at the annual joint meeting of Clydescope Economic Development Corporation and the Clyde BPA on April 15. The award goes to a community member who has served the community for four or more years in a volunteer position. Wilson was nominated by seven individuals. His current board positions include: Sandco Industries (past president), Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education, the Bellevue Hospital, Sandusky County Communities Foundation, Grant Committee member and Clydescope Economic Development Corporation where he was instrumental in forming the Clyde Community Grant Fund.

(Journal photo by Ryan Spitza) MARQUETTE The Superior Health Foundation held its spring grants celebration on Wednesday night, distributing 18 grant awards totaling over $272,000 to health-focused organizations serving the Upper Peninsula. The grants were presented at a reduced-capacity, socially distanced ceremony at the Holiday Inn in Marquette. Around $126,000 was distributed in spring grant funding, while nearly $100,000 was awarded to address children’s mental health in the U.P. through a partnership with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Michigan. The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce promotes local business and the enjoyment of Nevada City. Volunteers help keep Nevada City looking great, and welcome and inform visitors and residents about businesses, activities, and events. Spring Clean-Up volunteer duties include painting curbs, planting plants, raking, hand weeding and other general projects. Volunteers are asked to bring their own mask, work gloves, and water. Tools and other supplies will be provided. In adherence to COVID-19 guidelines, masks will need to be worn and physical distancing will be maintained among volunteers. Shifts are two to four hours. FREED FREED’s Fix-It Program is volunteer-driven and focuses on addressing the health and safety needs of Nevada County residents so they may remain independently in their own home.
