Five men have been arrested in Londonderry over the murder of an RUC officer in 1993 and the attempted murder of a police officer in April.
Two men, aged 48 and 59, were arrested over the 1993 murder of Constable Michael Ferguson in Derry.
Three men, aged 23, 52 and 62 were arrested over a bomb which was left near a policewoman s car in Dungiven, County Londonderry, on 19 April.
All five were taken to Musgrave Police Station in Belfast for questioning.
The 52-year-old man is also being questioned as part of Operation Ledging, targeting the New IRA s bomb making activities as well as the group s storage of explosive devices and equipment.

Three people have rescued from a fire at a block of flats in County Londonderry which is being treated as arson.
Emergency services were called to the property at Drummard Drive, Coleraine, at about 04:00 BST on Tuesday.
Police said they had received a report that a bin had been placed against the door of the flats and set on fire.
An investigation is under way and police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service group commander Karen McDowell said crews were quickly on the scene and got the fire extinguished.

A reward has been offered to help catch those responsible for leaving a burning car in the path of an oncoming train in County Londonderry last month.
A train with six passengers on board was forced to make an emergency stop to avoid a crash on the railway between Londonderry and Coleraine on 12 April.
The car was set on fire and abandoned on the track outside Limavady.
The Crimestoppers charity is offering a reward of up to £3,000 for information which directly leads to a conviction.
