A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Monroe County. There were already Winter Storm Warnings for much of Ohio, Indiana and southern lower Michigan.
Monroe County Central Dispatch and local first responders have already been handling spinouts and accidents on the highways.
The snowfall forecasts have fluctuated as the path of this storm settles in. Southeast Michigan is along the north edge of a massive snow and ice storm affecting much of the U.S. The current forecast for Monroe County is a total of 6 to 9 inches of snow starting tonight and into Tuesday morning.
ESCANABA, MI Police are investigating the derailment of a train in Escanaba.
Tuesday around 8 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to a site near 19th Avenue North on the west side of the city. They say the accident was not near a residential area and didn t obstruct any traffic.
Both conductors were able to get out of the train and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The nature of the derailment is under investigation and cleanup of the site is ongoing.
Delta County Central Dispatch, CN Railroad and CN Railroad Police, and UP Environmental Services assisted in the incident.

Snowmobiler hospitalized after colliding with pickup truck in Thumb area crash

SANILAC COUNTY, MI A Sandusky man has been hospitalized after being by a pickup truck while driving a snowmobile, police said.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 describing the personal injury traffic crash on Sanilac Road near Townline Road in Moore Township, just west of Sandusky.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the 35-year-old snowmobile driver lost control of the 2013 Polaris Snowmobile after the throttle got stuck, according to a Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office news release.
He entered the roadway into the path of a westbound 2003 Sierra pickup truck. The 18-year-old Sandusky man driving the pickup truck was unable to avoid a collision with the snowmobile, police said.

VASSAR TWP A man is in police custody after he was accused of trying to enter two children’s bedroom in a Tuscola County mobile home park.
About 11:53 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a residence within the Wood Valley Mobile Home Park in Vassar Township for a breaking-and-entering in progress. Tuscola County Central Dispatch advised two children were inside the home when a man opened the window to their bedroom from the outside and tried to enter through it.
