STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Canton man was convicted Thursday of murdering a woman last October.
The jury trial for Jason McDermitt began on April 2 in front of Stark County Court of Common Pleas Judge Natalie Haupt.
On April 8, jurors found McDermitt guilty of aggravated murder and menacing by stalking. Morgan Fox was murdered on 10/28/2020. (Source: Obit)
Morgan Fox, 29, was shot and killed on Oct. 28, 2020 while getting into her vehicle parked in the driveway of her home on Frazer Ave. in North Canton.

DALLAS A former Dallas police officer arrested on capital murder charges and fired last month has been released following a preliminary hearing Wednesday where the charges against him were dropped.
Former officer Bryan Riser had been accused of ordering three men, Kevin Kidd, Emmanuel Kilpatrick and Jermon Simmons, to kill Albert Douglas and Lisa Saenz in 2017.
During a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning, Dallas County Criminal Court Judge Audrey Moorehead agreed with prosecutors for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and said there was insufficient evidence against Riser to support a probable cause in the case, NBCDFW reported.

Murder trials in Limestone County resume next week

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) - Another sign of the return to normalcy. jury trials will resume in Limestone County beginning Monday March 15.
The pandemic prevented them from being held last year.
”We’ve been going to court, zooms, in-person hearings, things like that but it’s very hard to run a judicial system without a jury trial,” Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones said.
Jones says he’s ready for victims and their families to get their chance at justice as murder trials resume.

CAPTURE UPDATE March 9, 2021 - King County Prosecutors have charged 47-year-old Paul Weida with Theft 1st Degree and Trafficking in Stolen Property 1st Degree.
Renton Police say he was identified thanks to Washington’s Most Wanted viewer tips to Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.
Weida was arrested on February 19, 2021 and is being held without bail in the Regional Justice Center.
Detectives say he is one of two suspects who stole $40,000 worth of jewelry from Fred Meyer in 2018. The suspects ran into a 10-year-old cub scout in their urgency to escape the store. Fortunately, the boy was not hurt. The other suspect, Joesiah Bell Jr, has also been charged in the case, along with Moriah Connor, who is accused of serving as the getaway driver.
