The most notable instance of this is in Marion County. That prosecutor chooses not to file charges against anyone in possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.

Local rehab centers see less funding

(WTWO/WAWV) Wabash Valley Recovery Center director Christy Crowder said Thursday that the organization has seen an increase in substance abuse, and that the pandemic has created additional vexing issues for those battling addiction. However, some local centers haven t received as many donations as usual, making it difficult to keep up with housing costs, food or utilities. Some units require their residents to have an outside job and pay a weekly service fee, but with unemployment being high, those requirements are becoming harder to meet. Crowder said that even neighborhoods without a treatment facility can be affected.

Putnam s Bookwalter named special prosecutor to review Terre Haute PD case

Dec 23, 2020 Putnam County Prosecutor Timothy Bookwalter has been appointed as special prosecutor to review an FBI report involving a September arrest by Terre Haute police. Timothy Bookwalter Wilson s Photography by Lester & Judy Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt requested appointment of a special prosecutor involving a battery report by Indiana State Police. He cited the possibility of a conflict of interest or the appearance of conflict in asking Vigo Superior Court 6 for appointment of an outside attorney. The order issued Tuesday by Judge Michael Lewis directs the matter be forwarded to Bookwalter for review. The arrest in question came after a Sept. 20 gunfire incident and police pursuit that involved officers from city police, Vigo County Sheriff s Office and Indiana State Police.
