ROAD CAMPAIGNER: Jennie White
A RESIDENT who highlighted how the A66 dualling project could lead to traffic problems in Startforth has agreed to join a new group which aims to address future concerns associated with the scheme.
Jennie White accepted Startforth Parish Council s invitation to join a local community liaison group which is being set up by Highways England, the agency responsible for the A66 project.
Late last year, Ms White voiced concerns that changes to the layout and junctions of the A66 could lead to a large increase in traffic travelling through the village on the narrow B6277, posing a risk to pedestrians and adding to congestion at the County Bridge traffic lights.

Flood warnings wee issued for Norton overnight on Thursday along with a number of villages in Ryedale. County Bridge between Malton and Norton was closed along with Norton Road (Blackboards). Elsewhere a number of country roads were also shut due to the water levels, with flood warnings issued for the River Seven at Great Barugh, Sinnington, Marton and Normanby. A flood alert for the River Dove Catchment was also put in action with areas most at risk low lying land and roads, especially around Kirkby Mills. While the flood water leads to the inevitable dangers to homes and businesses they also gave Gazette & Herald readers the opportunity to take some stunning images around the region.
