In the city limits of Murfreesboro, there were over 30 auto accidents reported between 6AM and 11AM on Monday morning. The accidents were due to the icy road conditions that will likely worsen within in the next 24-hours.In addition to roads throughout the city, there have been a large number of crashes on Interstate 24, due to ice.There are areas of ice on bridges, overpasses and multiple roadways across Murfreesboro.Murfreesboro street crews and TDOT have worked together to salt a large number .
While we greatly appreciate the State s Attorney seeking such opinions, we must note the prior State s Attorney did nothing to resolve the issues raised in the County Farm case even though the matter was raised in February of last year. Had she actually taken the same steps as the current State s Attorney did, the County would be further down the road on getting an opinion from the Attorney General which may take as much as 4 years to get.
As it relates to the City of Shelbyville, it appears there is a consensus the farm ground in question is taxable. The question is, who pays that tax. The answer is found in the publications from the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDR), the law, and case law pertaining to the issue of public purpose.

The Putnam County Historian s Office has partnered with The Putnam County Courier to post a digital reference guide of Kent Cliffs native, Sgt. Clinton J. Peterson s 1919 column, My Year in France . It is a serialized record of Peterson s experience as an African-American serving 191 days in the trenches with the 369th U.S. Infantry Regiment, better known as the Harlem Hell Fighters , alongside the French during World War I. His account was first published and heralded in the columns of The Courier over 100 years ago.
