Comal County Commissioners met for a third time with Canyon Lake area residents on the plan to revise rules at the nine county operated boat ramps, which wonât happen before the July 4 weekend.
Commissioners on June 10 tabled a vote until Thursday to hear from citizens who appeared that day and again June 16 to get more on the proposals, which County Judge Sherman Krause said would enforce existing water safety measures authored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority â and also control overcrowding and rowdy behavior.
Krause commended residents on their assistance in coming up with suggestions for solutions. He pointed to a recent Herald-Zeitung editorial that praised residents working with the county instead of blaming commissioners for problems all agree stem from growth.

âThe jailers who work for the county are second to none â the knowledge these men and women possess Iâll put up against any in the state of Texas,â said Maj. Bill Jennings, Comal County Jail administrator, who was joined by more than dozen staffers and licensed correctional officers serving inside the countyâs new 582-bed facility.
COVID-19 vaccinations are at the give-away stage throughout Comal County, which closed its signup list earlier this week and plans its 23rd and 24th mass vaccine clinics next week.
Cheryl Fraser, public health director reporting to county commissioners on Thursday, said 96,943 shots have been distributed, with 60,467 having received at least one dose of the vaccine and 41,465 have received their second inoculations against the coronavirus.
Fraser said she was âparticularly proudâ that 67.68% of seniors 65 and older (21,627) have received at least one dose and 56.13% (16,394) have received both shots of the vaccine.Â
âThat is our most vulnerable group,â she said.
Fraser estimated the public health office has administered more than 30,000 doses, accounting for 32.98% of total county vaccinations. She said the county conducted its fifth and sixth satellite clinics this week.
