Residents encouraged to sign-up for notification alerts for when those vaccines do come in

(Seguin) Although the county remains on standby, Guadalupe County officials says it is still working to prepare residents for when the COVID-19 vaccines do become available. Patrick Pinder, Guadalupe County emergency management officer, says the first step will be for residents to sign up for the county’s Reverse 9-1-1 system. Pinder says by signing up for this alert, it will provide them with immediate news on any vaccination supply that arrives. “You can go to the county webpage. Go to the emergency management section and on the left hand column, go all the way down, it’s the second from the bottom and you sign up for that. What that does is it provides your information. You put in however you want to be notified, phone call, email, text and what we are going to do is when we find out when we are going to have a vaccine allocation, we are going to notify people through that system. County Judge encourages community to support Youth Show

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today Jan 6, 2021 5:46 AM (Seguin) The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court is also giving a bit of a shout out to the upcoming Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show. County Judge Kyle Kutscher mentioned the youth show during the close of the court’s meeting on Tuesday. Kutscher says he’s thrilled to hear the the youth show will not be a COVID-19 casualty, and he says it’s good news for the kids that will be presenting their projects this year. “Still go out and support those youth exhibitors. It’s one organization that really supports families from all over the county. There’s definitely a lot of benefit there. Some of these kids have been working on projects for 10, 11, or 12 months. So go out and support them any way you can,” said Kutscher.

Fireworks prohibited in Seguin

Seguin Fire Marshal Greg Dreiss says city of Seguin residents should keep in mind that possession and use of fireworks inside the city limits is strictly prohibited. There are always some city dwellers who ignore the rule, but Dreiss says this is definitely one of those times where you don’t want to do that. “This year, it’s extremely important because we are extremely dry. Regardless of the amount of rain that we are going to get over the next day or two, the grass is still dead and it’s just likely to start a fire,” said Dreiss.

Hospitalizations trigger new COVID restrictions in Guadalupe County

Guadalupe County businesses are facing new restrictions including reduced capacities and some closures following an increase in hospitalizations in the area. Restaurants will have to reduce capacity from 75% to 50% and bars will have to close due to the guidelines laid out by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s GA-32 Order. County officials received information that its trauma service area had exceeded the 15% of hospital capacity of COVID-19 patients for the past seven days. “The Governor’s Executive Order (GA-32), which went into effect on October 14, 2020, allowed bars to reopen and businesses to operate at 75% capacity, except in areas with high COVID-19 hospitalization rates,” a news release from the county said. “The Order defines areas with high hospitalizations as ‘any Trauma Service Area that has had seven consecutive days in which the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity exceeds 15 percent.’”
