SAN ANGELO, TX (Refresh this page for the latest election results) It is Election Day in San Angelo! The polls for the May 1 Election close at 7 p.m. and below are the results as we get them. The first results will be released by the County Elections Office sometime after 7 p.m. Usually, the early and mail-in voting results are released before the Election Day totals.
This election will decide who the Mayor of San Angelo will be for the next four years. Incumbent Mayor Brenda Gunter faced two challengers in real estate agent Silvara Lawson and health care administrator Dietrick Tillis. Lawson proposed an open dialog with citizens to solve problems, akin to a crowd-sourcing leadership style. Tillis wanted the City of San Angelo to become involved in providing opportunities outside normal city functions, like fostering an after school STEM program for children.

SHALLOWATER, Texas (KCBD) - Alderman David Brugel hosted a campaign event at the Shallowater Community Center last Friday, a place that is also used as an early voting location. During the event at the Center, also known as The Clubhouse, several voting machines lay behind an unsecured door.
County Commissioner Jason Corley, who was in attendance, made the discovery.
“[I] walked into the kitchen area, and on the way to the bathroom looked over and saw the voting machines. And said, ‘oh that’s a problem,’” Corley said.

County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong is asking voters to participate in his San Luis Obispo County 2021 Voter Survey so he can make recommendations, informed by voter input, to the County Board of Supervisors about future county election processes.
Gong’s office says the county is at a crossroads regarding how to conduct future elections after a major shift in the way the county handled elections in 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The county conducted the March 2020 primary using typical Election Day polling places. But in the November general election, all voters received mail-in ballots, as required by the state, and voters were allowed to cast their votes in person over four days at any of 23 voter service centers throughout the county.
