Channel 4 has always been a patron of amazing Irish comedy. It is, after all, the home of
Father Ted, one of the most iconic television shows Ireland has ever produced and still an inspiration to Irish writers, comics and performers over 25 years after it first aired.
It should come as no surprise then that the channel is once again championing an exciting Irish comedy export in the form of
Frank of Ireland, a new sitcom centred around a layabout thirty-something year old named Frank and his intellectually challenged best friend, appropriately named Doofus.
The pair are played by brothers Domhnall and Brian Gleeson, two of Ireland s most celebrated actors, each a bona fide star in his own right who between them have been a part of some of the biggest TV and film productions of the last decade From Brian s breakthrough in the RTÉ classic

Pharmacy owner defrauds HSE by applying for duplicate claims for chemists in Louth and Dublin

The owner of a chain of pharmacies may receive community service for fraudulently obtaining payments from the HSE’s Primary Care Reimbursement Service, a court has heard.
John Corr (55) was the owner of five pharmacies which made duplicate claims for reimbursement from the scheme, which is responsible for making payments to healthcare professionals, like GPs, dentists and pharmacists, for the free or reduced costs services they provide to the public.
Corr, of Vergemount Hall, Clonskeagh, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to seven counts of dishonestly inducing the HSE scheme to make a reimbursement at locations in County Dublin and County Louth on dates between July 15, 2016 and July 30, 2016.

With two commercial banks set to exit the Irish market within weeks of each other, the Central Bank and the Department of Finance should seriously reconsider the introduction of European-style public banking, a Fine Gael Senator has said.
Speaking following the announcement that KBC are in discussions to exit the Irish financial sector, Senator Regina Doherty said: “With reduced lending provider options for people and businesses, Ireland’s competitive offering in our banking sector is not where we would like it to be.
“With the possible exit of KBC, on top of the exit of Ulster Bank, we will soon have just two commercial lenders and three mortgage lenders in this State.
