That was the rallying cry heard from thousands of protesters who gathered 2 miles from Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 for the âSave America Rally.âÂ
âThank youâ was President Donald Trumpâs response to his supporters during a nearly hourlong speech in which he repeated the now often-heard, yet still unsubstantiated claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged against him.Â
Throughout, he called on the crowd to âwalk down Pennsylvania Avenueââ to the Capitol, where legislators were in the midst of certifying Joe Bidenâs Electoral College victory.Â
Whether Trump expected â or intended â for his supporters to take the call to fight literally, many did, in an unprecedented raid on the Capitol that resulted in vandalism, as many as six deaths, at least 120 arrests and a nation shocked that one of its most secure sites could be breached despite
To the Editor:
January 6, 2021.This will be one of the dates our country looks back on like December 7, 1941 or September 11, 2001. A date where everything changed. Tonight (Wednesday), is a strange and sober evening. What we all witnessed today in Washington, D.C. will leave an indelible stain. I condemn these treasonous acts of violence on our Nation. Any official, Democratic, Republican, or Independent, who attempts to condone or excuse this violent act of sedition should resign his or her office immediately for failing to uphold his or her duty and obligation to the law and our constitution.

The facts are clear - Joe Biden and Kamala Harris received 81 million votes and 306 electoral votes against the 75 million votes and 232 electoral votes for Trump and Pence.
Fleischmann, Blackburn and Haggerty should acknowledge the result and move on. That is the American way.
One of the realities of the democratic process is that in any given election there is a winner and there is a loser. The democratic process can only survive when those who participate accept that reality and respect the result. That doesn’t mean the losing side has to be happy. Nor does it mean that they can’t work for their beliefs even harder until the next elect
