County sidewalk improvements will give more footpaths along McGalliard

View Comments MUNCIE, Ind.  The Delaware County commissioners and the Delaware County Redevelopment Commission broke ground Thursday on the second phase of the Morrison Road Sidewalk Project.  The first phase of the project started out near Morrison Road; the second phase will add footpaths along the north side of McGalliard Road. The project will help tie into Ball State s trail network, as well as trails near Sugarbush Apartments and the Northest YMCA. New construction of pathways will allow foot traffic to move safely along McGalliard Road between Tillotson and Oakwood Avenue. It s common to see people darting across McGalliard, particularly at Walmart and the areas near Ball State s Scheumann Stadium. Traffic moves at a high rate of speed along that stretch, something both phases of the project have looked to address.

Commissioners rezone land off South Cowan Road as industrial

MUNCIE, Ind.  A recent industrial zoning approval by the Delaware County commissioners likely means that some type of industrial facility is coming to the area around South Cowan Road.  The commissioners reviewed a request on Monday to rezone nearly 138 acres southwest of the intersection of South Cowan Road and West Fuson Road. The land runs from Fuson all the way to Ind. 67. The change would move the land from Class F which is farming, to IL, which stands for limited industrial.  The change passed the commissioners unanimously. ►STAY INFORMED AND SUPPORT LOCAL JOURNALISM: Subscribe today using the link at the top of this page.
