Pascale Hutton grew up in Creston, British Columbia, with hippie parents who harvested their own honey and were huge proponents of the Moosewood Cookbook. Her childhood was spent swimming in the raging Goat River, chasing chickens and swinging from a trapeze hung from the rafters of their old barn.

Hallmark Channel’s new original movie
You Had Me at Aloha, which premieres Saturday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Filmed entirely on location in Oahu, the movie is part of the network’s annual “Summer Nights” programming event. When the host of a popular travel show resigns, the network enlists Paige (Hutton), to step in for the next season set in Hawaii. Unbeknownst to her, they have also hired Ben (Smith), who likes to push everything to the extreme. As these two new co-hosts clash over their opposing ideas for production, they grapple with the fact that not only do they need each other to further their careers, but they also balance each other on and off the screen.

“The fans have been very vocal. I don t think it s surprising,” Hutton says when asked if she’s seen the mixed response on social media. “We created two teams. We created a Team Nathan, and we created a Team Lucas. As soon as you create teams, whichever team doesn t win is going to be upset. But we ve had the fans be upset about certain things before. They were upset when Jack died, they were upset when Rosemary was introduced to the show and she was trying to split up Jack and Elizabeth. I ve always interpreted that as not a negative thing, even if some of the fans are upset, it s not a negative thing. It s indicative of how much they care, how much they love and care about these characters and about the storylines and how invested they are. First, weâve been waiting for seasons for the resolution of the love triangle between Elizabeth, Nathan and Lucas and the time between the penultimate episode and finale felt lengthy.
