Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he’s still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
This is despite confirmation by the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, that he has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Fani-Kayode had on Monday met with Bello and the National Chairman of the APC, Governor Mai Buni of Yobe State, leading to speculation that he had defected to the ruling party.
The speculation was confirmed to be true by Bello who, in a viral video, said, “Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has joined our party in good faith. He’s joining our party to add his own positive energy and make contribution into ensuring that APC is a party to beat.”
Following the news making the rounds that a former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and decamped to the ruling All Progressives Party, APC, the outspoken Femi has Wednesday denied the rumor, stating emphatically that he has not left PDP.

An aide to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the alleged defection of the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, to the ruling All Progressives Congress as stated by the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
In 2019, Fani-Kayode who dumped the APC for the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, had described the party as “a filthy, rat-infested sinking ship.”
The former Minister, who was rumoured to have secretly joined the party at the time, issued a statement on Twitter where he mocked the APC, describing it as the “Almajiri Peoples Congress.”
