State s Largest Business Group Gives Mixed Reaction to Evers Budget Signing | Duke FM | Playing the Legends of Country

By Rob Sussman Jul 8, 2021 | 5:20 PM GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce is having a mixed reaction to Governor Tony Evers signing of the GOP-authored state budget, which includes a large tax cut. WMC Vice President Nick Novak says the Governor doesn’t deserve the credit. “The Governor touted the tax relief,” Novak told WTAQ. “But it’s important to remember that his initial proposal increased taxes by over a billion dollars and increased spending by over 10%.” Novak also criticized Evers for vetoing a part of the budget that would have repealed the state’s personal property tax. “That’s a tax that costs about $200 million a year for businesses in addition to the expensive compliance costs,” said Novak. “We hope that Governor Evers will reconsider.”
