Parents of severely ill child still in limbo over vaccine

The parents of an eleven-year-old boy with severe Cerebral Palsy remain in limbo with no sign of either he or they receiving an early COVID vaccination. Martin is the son of Sarah and Marty Gibson O Gara of Newcastle and was born severely brain damaged at birth. His condition has been described as one of the most severe cases of cerebral palsy in the country. Last Tuesday, the Government announced changes to the COVID-19 vaccine allocation priority list with all organ transplant recipients and people on dialysis aged 16-69 years old moved to cohort 4. The age category was expanded from 18-64 years to 16-69 years to reflect the fact that one of the vaccines has been certified for use in this cohort.
