Friday, the team restructured cornerback Darius Slay’s contract, creating $9.14 million in space, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The Eagles also reworked center Jason Kelce’s contract, giving him a raise for the upcoming season while still lowering his cap number.
With the Eagles still looking to chip away at their extensive cap debt, the front office has a lot of work to do. While the impending releases of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and defensive tackle Malik Jackson will cut costs, the team must continue to tinker with veteran contracts to create spending money for the offseason.
