Volunteers sought to survey eagles within the St Croix River watershed

(Jed Carlson / jcarlson@superiortelegram.com) Outdoor enthusiasts, bird lovers and citizen scientists are being sought to take part in the St. Croix River Association’s annual bald eagle count. From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, participants are asked to report bald eagle sightings within the 7,760-square-mile St. Croix River watershed. The area stretches across states from Solon Springs, Cable and Hayward on the Wisconsin side to Moose Lake, Mora and McGrath in Minnesota. It reaches as far south as Prescott and River Falls, Wisconsin, and north to Minnesota Highway 210, encompassing familiar waterways such as the Eau Claire, Totogatic and Namekagon rivers.
