New Waste Strategy open for community comment
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council’s draft Waste Strategy supports increasing waste sustainability and provides equitable services, fees and charges across the region.
Federal and State government waste targets, along with bans on exporting waste and increased environmental and WHS risk, have made a change in waste strategy necessary.
Council’s waste services currently reflect pre-amalgamation arrangements, which have created inconsistent servicing and charging outcomes.
“Council must ensure that it provides consistent, quality services to meet the needs of the community, environment and regulators. By improving our waste strategy now, we can provide a streamlined service that meets future sustainability requirements,” Queanbeyan-Palerang Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said.

The retailer first began offering “pre-loved” garments in September 2019, as part of a month-long trial for the ‘Second-hand September’. Campaign. The aim of the pilot was to gauge consumer attitudes and test the practicalities of this business model, which is new for the supermarket.
Now, it has confirmed that the offer will be made available in 50 stores across the UK, including major locations in Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Leeds. Asda is working with wholesaler Preloved Vintage Kilo, best known for its vintage pop-up and pay-by-the-kilo events, to source the clothing.

Quartier Heidestraße
In all stages of its life, real estate consumes materials: during design, during construction, during operation. Bricks are forged from clay, and electricity runs along copper wires, taking raw materials from the Earth. But instead of being a burden on the planet, using up finite resources, what if a building could be part of a solution?
This enormous question is the subject of an initiative established by Drees & Sommer, British Embassy Berlin and Imperial College London. Following its first event held last November, the group’s second digital event, German-British Embassy Talks 2.0 on Smart and Sustainable Cities, will provide industry leaders with collaborative and tangible opportunities to support the UK and Germany in achieving their zero-emission goals.
