ACTION is being taken to address the toll that Covid-19 and national lockdowns have taken on young people’s mental health, with senior leads set to be brought in for each school. The Government has announced £17 million to improve mental health and wellbeing support in schools and colleges in the recovery from Covid-19. Funding will be offered to 7,800 schools and colleges in England to train senior mental health leads from their staff. A £7 million Wellbeing for Education Recovery programme will provide free expert training, support and resources for staff who are dealing with children and young people experiencing challenges from the Covid year.
