+ February 02, 2021 THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) has clarified that it is enforcing the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act, which was passed by Congress and signed by President Rodrigo Duterte two years ago, by operation of law.
The DOTr stated that February 2 is the effectivity date of Republic Act 112299, otherwise known as The Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act.
It added that the law has approved Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) released in December 2019 and effective for implementation February 2020.
The stipulation of a one-year transitory period actual implementation is effective February 2, 2021.
The IRR was a result of various consultations, discussions and exchanges with different government agencies and private organizations, and under the purview of United Nations and World Health Organization (WHO) standards on child safety measures.

MIDDLETOWN – Committeeman Tony Perry has been elected by his fellow members of the Township Committee to serve as Middletown’s mayor for a third consecutive year.
Perry was elected mayor during the committee’s 2021 reorganization meeting on Jan. 3. The meeting was held at the municipal building and was broadcast live to the community.
Municipal officials said this marks the first time in more than 45 years that a committee member has served as mayor for three years in a row. Thomas J. Lynch served as mayor from 1972-74.

This is part 3 in a series observing similarities between China’s Cultural Revolution and the United States today. (See part 1 and part 2.)
Under defence minister Lin Biao’s direction, the army since 1960 had been making soldiers read and learn collections of sayings by Mao. These became the basis for the “Little Red Book,” with an introduction by Lin Biao (formal title, “Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong”). In 1966, everyone in China was required to buy the “Little Red Book.” State printers ran out of paper, even though printing of all nonpolitical works had been eliminated.
